The GIS Day is an annual event celebrating geography in general and specifically the technology of Geographic Information Systems (GIS). It is a day dedicated to showing, teaching, learning and inspiring others to become excited about geography.
Initiated by spatial analytics world-leader Esri (Environmental Systems Research Institute), the first GIS Day took place in 1999. It’s been a big success in the USA and is slowly also finding its way to the rest of the world.
This year, for the first time Esri BeLux is actively encouraging YOU to join the GIS Day 2018 by coming up with your own ideasto celebrate Geography and GIS. For inspiration from existing projects, have a look at the official website of GIS Day 2018: www.gisday.com/ – it doesn’t have to be a big or new idea, all project ideas are welcomed!!
